Wedding Video: Why or Why not?

Okay, so maybe I am a little partial since we own a wedding video company. However, I'll try to be as "in-the-middle" as I can be about the topic!

Why wedding video?

As the bride on your wedding day, there is SO MUCH that will keep your focus. Hair, makeup, spills, keeping bridesmaids entertained, worrying about every single thing (try not to do that!). But you know, there was something that I didn't think about before the wedding.

You miss so much.

In most cases, no one sees you until you're walking down the aisle to meet up with your soon-to-be husband. Which, in turn, means that you don't get to see your grandparents, parents, bridesmaids and groomsmen, ring bearers and flower girls walk down the aisle because you're hidden in a closet somewhere.

I remember watching the raw footage from my wedding and I cried and laughed and cried and laughed some more. I cried because I didn't remember seeing some of the people at the wedding who I saw in the video. I laughed because family members can be REALLY awkward when walking down the aisle. =)

But in my opinion, the best part is having video of people who you lose later on. I am so thankful that I get to watch my grandmother walk down the aisle, and I get to see my husband's grandfather's smile.

There was a wedding that I videoed, the bride messaged me a few months after the wedding because her grandfather passed away and she asked if I had the video of him praying at the wedidng. I did and sent it to her as quickly as I could because it was such a big deal to have that little piece of memory.

If those two reasons aren't enough for you, then by all means, skip out on it! It's the reason that I do what I do.

Why not have wedding video?

In most cases, it's because of budgetary reasons or because it just isn't important to some.

If it is a budgetary reason, I would like to encourage you to reach out to videographers to see if they'll work with you. Look, my husband and I have had our hard times. We get it. Don't let money be the reason that you don't get video of your wedding, that can and should be worked out for you by the professional. At least, that's my stance.

Other than that, there is no reason not to have it. =)

Shooting for the Holbrook's!

If you don't know who they are, the Holbrook's own Holbrook Media. They are a really big deal in the video/editing world, ESPECIALLY in Lafayette, Louisiana. To say that we were nervous to shoot this wedding is an understatement.

Sammy Holbrook got married this past weekend to Ramsey, who is absolutely gorgeous. The ceremony was at The Victorian in Broussard and it was stunning. There was a really fun photobooth there (LOL is the name of the company if you're looking for one).

It was fun, it was beautiful, it was sentimental and it was real.

The bride did a "first look" with her father and then with Sammy and I almost cried both times. The emotions were so raw and so real, it was absolutely beautiful.

We can't wait to finish a highlight video so that you're able to see just how in love they are.
